I'm new to digital scrapbooking and have been working on 12"x12" page layouts in PhotoShop Elements 5.0. I was wondering if there is any rule of thumb for the number of photos you should put on one page? What type of dimensions should they have? Also, How do you know what the dimensions are for any particular photo that you do place on the page. Right now I'm estimating the size of the photos by comparing it's size to the over all size of the 12"x12" page (ie  if a square photo takes up approximately 1/2 of the page in both length and width, then it's about 6"x6" in dimension). I'm wondering if when you click on and high-light a particular photo and then resize it using inches if this would tell you the actual dimensions.
