Using a template is really easy and fun. Here a quick step by step guide.
1. Open the template in your photo editing software. Most templates come saved as either PNG or PSD files. PNG files will be flattened images, while PSD files will generally contain various layers
2. Choose the Save As option in you File menu so that your original will remain intact.
3. Open the elements and photographs that you plan to use. Start by dragging your base paper onto your template. Position each element you add in the layer palette directly over the layer you plan on replacing.
4. This step will vary slightly depending on which program you are using and whether or not your template is flattened or layered.
If your template is flattened or your program does not support Clipping Masks simply use your magic wand or selection tool to select the empty or unwanted area on you template layer. Staying selected, switch to your new paper layer and delete your unwanted paper by pushing Ctrl + X or going to Edit >> Cut.
If your template is layered and your program supports Clipping Masks make sure your new paper layer is selected and that it is directly above the layer you want to replace, then go to Layer >> Create Clipping Mask and all your unwanted paper should disappear.
5. Repeat Step 3 & 4 for each layer or section of your of your template.
6. Add title, journaling, photographs and embellishments as desired and you are done!
Best of luck,

Fabulous
If this is your first, you need to keep going. It is striking the way you put the sweet little girl that way. She looks like she is standing right out of the page!
